Frameing a Nation for International Military Action?

polifrog

AP-  Intelligence linking gas attacks to Assad is unclear:

The intelligence linking Syrian President Bashar Assad or his inner circle to an alleged chemical weapons attack is no "slam dunk," with questions remaining about who actually controls some of Syria's chemical weapons stores and doubts about whether Assad himself ordered the strike, U.S. intelligence officials say.

And via yahoo earlier in the year:

London, Jan 30 (ANI): The Obama administration gave green signal to a chemical weapons attack plan in Syria that could be blamed on President Bashar al Assad's regime and in turn, spur international military action in the devastated country, leaked documents have shown.
A new report, that contains an email exchange between two senior officials at British-based contractor Britam Defence, showed a scheme 'approved by Washington'.
As per the scheme 'Qatar would fund rebel forces in Syria to use chemical weapons,' the Daily Mail reports. Barack Obama made it clear to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad last month that the U.S. would not tolerate Syria using chemical weapons against its own people.

Is Bitcoin really any different? Not in the long run.

polifrog

Consider the dollar.

The dollar is theoretically limited  (in reality the dollar, as all national currencies, is subject to over creation, aka printing. This inflationary pressure  is in large part driving the interest in Bitcoin.) as a  currency within the US while the concept of a national currency is only limited by the number of nations on Earth meaning that that there are only as many national currencies as there are nations.

Now to bitcoin.

Unlike the dollar the Bitcoin is very limited in supply.  But what if bytecoin comes along, then gigacoin, followed by googlecoin and so fourth? There seems to be no limit on the number of bitcoin imitators possible.

While there might be a limited number of bitcoins within the subset of Bitcoin, the concept of Bitcoin is unlimited.  This stands in contrast to the world's various national currencies which are limited to the number of nations in existence.

Competition will utterly devalue Bitcoin unless it is adopted by particular nations  to the exclusion of its competitors, however that is not to say that other nations will not adopt one or more of Bitcoin's competitors to the exclusion of Bitcoin .. they most certainly would.

And how is that materially different from our current international system of free floating national currencies?

Senator Burr (NC) Loses This Conservative's Vote for Characterizing the Funding of Government Absent ObamaCare Funding as a Government Shutdown...

polifrog

A true conservative would not let the reporter in the included video characterize the push for funding government while defunding ObamaCare as a government shutdown.

Burr did.  His doing so is an admission that he is no longer conservative, that he does not stand with his base in regard to one of this time's defining issues and that he prefers the Republican base in NC to be without representation in regard to ObamaCare.

If that is the case I have no reason to support him or give him my vote.

And although I can not retract a vote for Ellmers as I do not live in her district, I will no longer support Ellmers  in the future.  She is a lost and confused soul.

Consider this.  In the early 90's Democrats passed gun control measures that they later paid a dear political price for  in 1994.  Yet in the face of campaign promises otherwise they had the balls to push for gun control since Sandy Hook.  And even after being defeated in that most recent push for gun control they are still out there pushing for gun control today.  It's a losing issue for them, yet still they fight for gun control ... wining in small venues across the nation.

Now contrast the lack of public support for gun control Democrats are willing to go to battle with  to the bipartisan support for ending ObamaCare that flaccid Republicans are too fearful to represent.

It is clear to me the best thing Obama and by extension the Democrats have going  for them is a pervasive fear of the Democrat agenda among amenable Republicans like Ellmers and Burr, a fear so great  that Republicans like them can not even bring themselves to represent the 54% majority of the public that want ObamaCare gone.

The real pussy riot is in the Republican party.

They have utterly lost me.

13 Maine Republicans Give Up on the Flaccid RNC -- Their Letter, A Warning and a Path Forward to Liberty

polifrog

The only way to get a stalled car going in the right direction is to get out and push...

The Republican Party is increasingly a party without a base and its base without a party. It should come as no surprise then that  thirteen Maine Republicans are Republicans no more.

Their letter: (Bold Added)

August 18, 2013 To Maine State GOP Secretary Chuck Mahaleris:
There are times in your life when you must choose between two paths.

The first path, if taken, would require us to remain within the Republican Party despite the fact that we know without a doubt that Republican ideas of more freedom and less taxes — while sounding good and repeated by any and all candidates – are in fact, worth no more than the paper that they are written on.

The second path leads to a principled preservation of our individual integrity, helping out our fellow citizens at the local level, and doing our level best for our Creator, our families, and our friends.

We have therefore chosen to follow the path of the latter.

Effective immediately, we the undersigned are unenrolling from the Maine Republican Party. Furthermore, those of us who hold official Party positions, be they at the Republican National, State, County or even Town Committees, hereby resign. Our reasons for doing so are as follows:

The RNC:

At the RNC, we have fought the good fight and kept the faith with regards to the rules. The Resolution that was passed in January 2013 by the Maine Republican State Committee put the RNC on notice that the grassroots were listening (and watching), leading to the rules battles which have taken place consistently since the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa. The duplicity and lack of political courage which has been on display in this matter has sealed the fate of this Party.

Furthermore, it has become clear to us now that the RNC has no intention of reforming and would rather fly under invalid rules than to right the wrongs of Tampa. We therefore cannot, in good faith, support or defend the actions of the RNC. To violate our consciences and support those actions would make us part of the problem – especially after we clearly provided and handed the RNC the solution which was flatly rejected. The RNC now owns their demise.

Congressional Republicans:

In the House of Representatives, the cowardly leadership of John Boehner reached a new low in December 2012 when he purged the most fiscally conservative GOP members from leadership positions, citing their “unwillingness to be team players.”
Political punishment such as this from Speaker Boehner has garnered justifiable rage from conservative groups, and from us, as we expected better.

Furthermore, the House Republican leadership’s utter disdain for the United States Constitution, specifically the 4th Amendment, was on full display as they worked overtime to kill the Amash Amendment which would have gone a long way toward constraining the NSA to the boundaries of the Constitution and seriously curbed their ability to conduct mass surveillance of Americans. Be it known that we cannot and will not support nor defend these actions.

In the United States Senate, we see Republicans all too willing to pass unconstitutional bills related to subjects such as the Internet Sales Tax and Immigration. Whether through arrogance or ignorance, they fail to understand the simple fact any revenue generating legislation must originate in the House of Representatives.

Additionally, the Senate Republicans continue to support undeclared wars, meet in secret and supply arms to our “terrorist enemies” who we vowed to destroy after 911, and then tell us they love our troops – so long as it’s our kids and not theirs who have to go fight.

Lastly, all too many Senate Republicans are more than willing to pass new “feel good” gun control legislation that would do nothing to stop another Sandy Hook massacre, all the while restricting 2nd Amendment rights of law abiding American citizens. We cannot support nor defend these actions in good faith.

Maine Republican Legislators:

In Maine, the Republican legislators in the House and Senate failed to sustain the Governor’s veto on one of the most important pieces of legislation of the 126th. Maine Republicans were justifiably outraged, especially at those legislators who campaigned on lower taxes.

We have been told that many donors have refused to donate one more cent to the MEGOP due to this budget debacle, but nevertheless we are expected to ignore these facts and get out there and raise funds for the party. This we cannot do in good faith; the Republican Party has lost its way and the donors know it.

The LePage Administration:

Not to be outdone by the legislators, this Administration’s support for Common Core Education Standards, the Internet Sales Tax, the atypical meddling in the business of the Maine State Committee, as well as the vetoes of the Drone and Cell Phone bills left many of us incredulous.

However, the straw that broke the camel’s back for many of us was the veto of LD 1282 (the “Raw Milk Bill”) and those who voted to sustain it: a sad day indeed for the small farmers of Maine. We want our God-given rights to buy, sell and consume what we want protected by the law – not restricted by FDA or USDA directives. These actions we cannot explain nor defend in good faith – the Republican Party has lost it’s way.

Therefore, for the above-stated reasons, we can no longer allow ourselves to be called nor enrolled as Republicans; we can no longer associate ourselves with a political party that goes out of its way to continually restrict our freedoms and liberties as well as reaching deeper and deeper into our wallets.

We instead choose the path that focuses on ways to help our fellow Mainers outside of party politics.

Some of us may be town officers or board members.

Some of us may leave all options on the table with regards to running for higher office as Independents.

Some of us may be small farmers and gardeners who desire to help feed their communities.

Others may simply want to just get part of their life back, catching up and spending more time with friends and neighbors.

Sincerely,

Republican National Committee Member:
Mark Willis, Washington County
Maine Republican State Committee Members:
Thomas Barry, Androscoggin County
Ann-Marie Grenier, Cumberland County
Gregory Hodge, Lincoln County
Olga LaPlante, Cumberland County
Russell Montgomery, Knox County
Violet Willis, Washington County

Maine Registered Republicans:
Sam Canders, Penobscot County
Bryan Daugherty, Penobscot County
Maria Hodge, Penobscot County
Randall J. Grenier, Cumberland County
L. Scott D’Amboise, Androscoggin County
Debbie D’Amboise, Androscoggin County

Agreed. The RNC is the party of the flaccid....

Phys.org - Oceans mysteriously drop by .3 inches in 18 months beginning in 2012

polifrog

Phys.org:

As the climate warms, the world's oceans have been rising in recent decades by more than 3 millimeter (0.1 inches) annually...

...but for an 18 month period beginning in 2012, the oceans mysteriously dropped by about 7 millimeters(about 0.3 inches), more than offsetting the rise.

That means that at the end of an 18 month period the oceans read  0.45" (0.3" plus the 0.15 expected over an18 month period) lower than projected.

Really? Nearly half an inch off of projection over 18 months?

And supposedly this half an inch of water sourced from the surface of all the oceans of the world, or said another way, sourced from 3/4 of the surface of the planet  simply soaked into a relative postage stamp of soil in Australia?

Uh-huh....

I suggest reassessing some assumptions, starting with the 0.1"/year of ocean rise.

As the climate warms, the world's oceans have been rising in recent decades by just more than 3 millimeters (0.1 inches) annually. This is partly because the heat causes water to expand, and partly because runoff from retreating glaciers and ice sheets is making its way into the oceans.
But for an 18-month period beginning in 2010, the oceans mysteriously dropped by about 7 millimeters (about 0.3 inches), more than offsetting the annual rise.

Glenn Danzig Disses Obama, Calls Democrats “Fascists Disguised As Liberals” ...

 polifrog

Glenn Danzig:

My view on Democrats is that they're fascists disguised as liberals, or liberal moderates. You're not allowed to say anything that they don't agree with. You're not allowed to do anything. Also, the whole Obama, "I can kill anybody with a drone with no trial," is kind of disturbing. I'm surprised that more people who are supposedly liberal aren't more disturbed by it. I think whatever Obama does is OK with them, because he's Obama. It's bullshit.

Agreed. On a scale that runs from liberty to big government Democrats, progressives and liberals are all closer to being  not only Marxist, but Fascist as well than any Republican or conservative, not that Republicans embrace liberty.

Defending Against Governmental Super Factions that Counter Citizen Governance...

 polifrog

David Corbin and Mathew Parks:

...

Congressional Democrats–supposed to be the friends of the people–decided to bill them for their special break. The president–supposed to be fighting cynicism with “hope and change”–cynically cut one more deal to quiet Obamacare critics, in the spirit of earlier deals that secured the support of the American Medical Association and the AARP.

All of this set up a perfect political opportunity for the party of small government; just follow through on the thinnest possible understanding of Republican principles and score big points against do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do big-government hypocrites. Even this turned out to be too hard for the GOP leadership, which can congratulate itself for at least saving a few special people (themselves!) from the extra burdens of Obamacare.

There is an answer to this and Mark Levin has laid it out for us.

Terrorists Hold a Special Place in the Heart of the Left...

polifrog

Michael Ledeen:
The war is easily described: there is a global alliance of radical leftists and radical Islamists, supported by a group of countries that includes Russia, at least some Chinese leaders, Iran, Syria, Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador and Nicaragua). The radicals include the Sunni and Shi’ite terrorist organizations and leftist groups, and they all work seamlessly with the narcotics mafias. Their objective is the destruction of the West, above all, of the United States.

I am Stunned to Find, Based on the Same Power the Executive Grants ObamaCare Waivers, a Citizen's Affordable Healthcare Act Waiver -- (Form T-1776)

 polifrog

While it is Congress that is empowered to write law it is the executive that is not only expected to execute that law but is also bound by it. The executive, however, has granted exceptions to Obamacare such as waiving the employer mandate and allowing the subsidizing of Congressional member's Obamacare costs, neither of which were Affordable Healthcare Act law.

Simply fill in the following form (T-1776) and send it to your flaccid representative. Claim for yourself that power our neutered and flaccid representatives in congress seem so unwilling to defend as theirs.

Ayn Rand's Prescience »

Ayn Rand's Prescience »: From James Delingpole:

One of the things she foresaw was the current nonsensical, dishonest, canting campaign against shale gas. In Atlas Shrugged it takes the form of Rearden Metal, the miracle technology which is going to transform the US economy if only the progressives will let it. But of course, Rand’s fictional progressives don’t want Reardon Metal to succeed any more than their modern, real-life equivalents want shale gas to succeed.
Well, she lived our nation's bureaucratic totalitarian future, a future not necessarily our present.

What good are representatives when law is birthed less in the halls of congress than in the labyrinthine matrix of bureaucracies at the behest of the executive?
